Nepal Leprosy Trust (NLT) was founded in 1972 with the purpose of improving the lifestyle of people affected by leprosy and other marginalized people.
NLT is a non-governmental organization (NGO) which is registered in the District Administration Office at Lalitpur and affiliated to the Social Welfare Council, Nepal. It aims to provide medical, social and economic benefits by providing employment and support.
VISION
A society in which people affected by leprosy, and other disabled and marginalized persons, are successfully integrated in their community, both socially and economically, and regain a feeling of self-esteem and dignity.
MISSION
Nepal Leprosy Trust works with people affected by leprosy, and other disabled and marginalized persons. It supports them without discrimination to empower, rehabilitate and restore dignity, and thus demonstrates their potential to be active members in their community. To achieve this goal, NLT runs Social Support, Income Generation and Capacity Building programmes through a participatory approach.
OBJECTIVES
To provide treatment and practical help to persons affected by leprosy and those from other disadvantaged groups.
To provide skills training and to develop job opportunities for people affected by leprosy and other marginalized people.
To undertake other welfare activities.
To undertake projects for the social and financial benefit of disadvantaged women, children and extremely poor people.
To work with other agencies with similar objectives.
To receive donations from individuals and institutions and apply this income for the benefit of people affected by leprosy and other disadvantaged groups.
To work towards "self-sustainability".
To be involved in effecting cultural change by eradicating stigma of leprosy in the communities.
To improve quality of life and provide security for all those assisted by NLT.
